Belt Feeders

James A. Redding's belt feeders provide you with exceptional performance and versatility; and they are tailored to your application. In any operation, it is essential that the extracted samples are protected from contamination and that they are fed evenly to the next stage of sampling. The sample is metered through the system via belt feeders equipped with a burden depth gate and variable frequency drive.

Standard belt feeder widths are 14", 18", and 24" wide, larger sizes can be designed and provided to fit your requirements. Feeder belts are supported by side mounted 35-degree carrying idlers. A standard belt scraper with an internal spring tension plus a secondary belt scraper are both provided at the head end to retain sampled material in the system flow. Skirting is provided in the feed area on our standard models. James A. Redding's belt feeders are provided with adjustable material centering guides at the discharge. Easily removable top and bottom covers are provided to protect the sample and to access the feeder for inspection and adjustments.

A self-cleaning wing type tail pulley is also provided. Belt take-ups are included either on the feeder tail pulley or on a vertical take-up on the feeder frame. Take-up locations and type will comply with the system deisgn.

Our use of 35-degree side mounted carrying idlers and flat return idlers provide the following operating and maintenance advantages:

  • Virtually eliminates feeder belt freezing due to low contact surfaces between idlers and belt, unlike a slider bed feeder design.
  • The 35-degree side mounted carrying idlers and flat return idlers incorporated in our design have sealed-for-life bearings.
  • Less mounted HP due to low belt friction between the feeder belt and the idlers, unlike a slider bed feeder design.
  • Longer belt life, again due to the low belt friction, unlike a slider bed feeder design.
